Maria "Nena" Garcia, a cherished member of the Diaz family, passed away on the night of October 6, 2024, after a difficult battle with metastatic cancer. Diagnosed last November, Maria faced numerous rounds of chemotherapy, hoping to combat the aggressive disease. However, in late September, her condition worsened as she was admitted to the ICU with acute respiratory distress syndrome, a likely result of her cancer spreading to her lungs. Despite all efforts, she could no longer continue treatment and was placed under hospice care, where she peacefully passed with her husband by her side.
Maria’s family, including her children Jenny, Melissa, and Juan Diaz, are grieving the loss of their beloved mother and wife. They are now working to honor her last wish: to be buried in her hometown of Santa Cruz De Las Flores in Jalisco, Mexico.
Sofia Pauca, a family friend, has set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to assist with the transportation and funeral costs associated with fulfilling Maria’s final request. Although no donations have been made yet, the family is hopeful that community support will help them during this trying time.
