Highgate Center, VT—Marion Bruce, a cherished and loving soul, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, surrounded by her family. Marion, known for her spirited and kind-hearted nature, will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was 76 years old.
Marion lived a life filled with simple joys. Whether it was bird watching, exploring flea markets, or hunting for treasures at auctions, she found happiness in everyday moments. Her love for bingo and rummage sales was contagious, and she always brought a sense of fun and warmth to those around her. Her homemade French onion dip, often shared during family camping trips and holiday gatherings, became a treasured family tradition.
Her family is now left to mourn her loss. Marion leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Donald Bruce Sr., as well as her children Laurie Currier, Daniel Bruce, Tammy Odom, Darrell Bruce, and Angela Williams. She also leaves her grandchildren Theodore Bruce, David Cornell, Nathaniel Cornell, Matthew Cornell, Jonathon Kropp, Jacob Ryals, Michael Bruce, Brooklyn Bruce, and Melinda and Chris Ives, along with great-grandchildren Malorie Raymo, Brantley Raymo, Emilee Ives, and Ashton Ives. Marion’s sister, Evelyn, also survives her. Marion was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Evelyn, her son Donald Bruce Jr., and her siblings Marjorie, Robert, and Richard.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Goss Life Celebration Home in Swanton, VT, followed by her burial at Highgate Center Cemetery. A fundraiser, organized by Christopher Ives, has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses, as Marion did not have life insurance.
On social media, family and friends have shared their heartfelt tributes. Melinda Ives expressed her gratitude for the memories they shared, especially in recent months, writing, “I hope my best was the best for you. Rest easy, Gram.” Roger Chauvin Jr. reflected on the deep bond of love between a mother and her children, saying, “The worst loss you can have is your Ma. No one loves you more than your mother.” Other messages of sympathy were shared by Jennifer Fregeau, Julie Sweeney, Wanda Darrah, and many more who expressed their sorrow and support for the Bruce family during this difficult time.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Marion Bruce’s family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate this heartbreaking loss.
