Mark Charles Perkins, 76, of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 28, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Warsaw, NY, Mark was a proud graduate of Letchworth High School in 1966 and went on to serve his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1966 to 1970, including active combat service during the Vietnam War.
Mark built a career as a highly skilled mason and craftsman, spending over 40 years in the construction industry. He retired in 2013 as the lead estimator for LeChase Construction, where he was known for his dedication, attention to detail, and passion for his work.
Survived by his six children—Brandon Perkins and Lynette Myers of Warsaw, Aaron Perkins, Allyson Perkins, and Alexander Perkins of Rochester, and Audrey Perkins of Seattle, WA—Mark was a loving and steadfast father. He is also survived by three brothers, Daniel Perkins of Warsaw, Philip Perkins of Raleigh, NC, Steven Perkins of Warsaw, a sister, Deborah Runke of Seattle, WA, and five grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mark will be remembered for his reliability, generosity, and the warmth he shared with his neighbors and friends. His love for cooking, gardening, home improvement projects, hunting, and cheering for the Buffalo Bills were just a few of the ways he enjoyed life and made lasting memories with those around him.
The family will be present at calling hours today, Thursday, October 3rd, from 2-4 pm at Miller Funeral Home in Rochester, followed by a short service. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to make donations to assist the Perkins family with funeral costs. Allyson Perkins has organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to help with these expenses, and all contributions will be greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
Mark’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to the medical staff, hospice care, and friends who provided essential support during his illness.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the Perkins family. May Mark’s legacy of hard work, compassion, and dedication to others continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
