Mark Raymond Lewis, Port Charlotte, FL—It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Mark Raymond Lewis, who left us peacefully on September 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Mark, who battled liver cancer, was 60 years old. His departure has left a deep void in the lives of all who knew him.

Mark was born to Marilyn Winfrey and Thomas Poholsky and was lovingly adopted by Lillian and Edward Lewis, who raised him in Punta Gorda, Florida. A graduate of Charlotte High School, Mark was known for his athletic skills, excelling in both football and basketball. His vibrant personality and unwavering dedication to his community were evident in his career as a taxi driver and later as the owner of Checker Cab of SWFL. Mark’s warmth and humor made a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Mark’s life was defined by his passions. He was a devoted fan of NASCAR and the Miami Dolphins, but his greatest joy came from his family. He was a loving father to Scott Lewis, Ally Lewis & Dominique Nguyen, Gabi Lewis, and Emily Lewis & Jake Dinnan, and a cherished grandfather to Kelsey Lewis, Claire Dinnan, Hudson Nguyen, Koda Dinnan, and Finn Lewis. Mark’s quick wit, infectious humor, and resilience inspired all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery, Punta Gorda, FL. A Mass celebrating Mark’s life will take place the following day, Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 211 W Charlotte Ave, Punta Gorda, FL. A reception will follow at the funeral home.

During this challenging time, the family has expressed their need for financial support to cover the unexpected costs of the funeral services. A fundraiser has been organized by Alexandria Lewis to assist with these expenses. Any contribution, no matter the size, will be deeply appreciated and will help the family honor Mark in a way that reflects the love and joy he brought into their lives.
