Mary Puertollano, Eighty Mile Beach, WA— Mary Puertollano, a beloved member of the community, has recently passed away. Mary was a cherished figure, known as a mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose warm presence and dedication to her family and community left a lasting impact.
A respected Yawuru-Bardi woman, Mary was deeply involved in her community. She was an avid supporter of the West Coast Eagles and a lifelong member of the Broome Saints. Her career as a senior healthcare worker for Yura Yungi showcased her commitment to the well-being of others, and her care touched many lives throughout the Kimberley region. Mary found joy in fishing and felt most at home when she was out in the country, where she could relax with an iced coffee and share laughter and memories with friends and family.
To honor her memory and help with the funeral costs, her sister Rowena Puertollano has organized a fundraiser. This effort will also assist Mary’s immediate family in coming together to say their final goodbyes. So far, $125 AUD has been raised out of the $50,000 goal through the generosity of five donors.
The community mourns the loss of Mary Puertollano, whose compassion and vibrant spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
Our hearts go out to the Puertollano family. May they find comfort during this difficult time, and may Mary’s soul rest in peace.
