Matilde Lopez, Fontana, CA— The community is mourning the loss of Matilde Lopez, who passed away on September 28, 2024, after a long battle with illness. Matilde was diagnosed with stage 4 renal cell carcinoma in May 2022 and had faced numerous health challenges since, including diabetes and frequent hospitalizations. Despite her pain, she remained a loving and vibrant person, always devoted to her family and her faith.
In June 2024, Matilde faced a difficult decision to undergo surgery to remove her kidney due to unbearable pain. Unfortunately, after the surgery, complications arose, and she developed two severe infections that her body could not overcome. Though she fought hard during her three months in the hospital, her condition worsened, and she passed away peacefully, reuniting with her late son, Jon.
Kathy Lopez, her daughter, has organized a fundraiser to help give Matilde the memorial she deserves. The community has shown overwhelming support, with donations from people like Tammie Macias, Rose Brancacio, and Nancy Sparks contributing to the cause. Matilde’s family is deeply appreciative of the kindness shown during this difficult time.
Matilde Lopez was known for her love of life. She adored spending time at the beach, going to the gym, dancing, and cherishing moments with her children and grandson. Her strength, faith, and kindness will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Matilde’s family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they honor her memory.
