Meriam Iawila, Binningup, WA—Meriam Iawila is currently facing significant financial challenges after a devastating car accident in March. Meriam, who is known for her warm and generous spirit, suffered extensive burns from the accident and spent a week in the Fiona Stanley hospital burns unit. Unfortunately, as an overseas visitor, Meriam is not covered by Medicare, and her health insurance had expired just three days before the accident, leaving her with over $38,000 in medical bills.
A fundraiser organized by her close friend Anne Pattinson is helping to alleviate some of this financial burden. Anne describes Meriam as "sunshine and happiness" and one of the most generous people she has ever met, always willing to help others even when she has little herself. The fundraiser has raised $250 AUD so far, with donations from five generous individuals, including Anne herself.
Meriam is currently unable to work due to visa restrictions and is living with Anne, who is supporting her during this difficult time. The funds raised will go towards paying off Meriam’s medical bills while she continues her recovery.
We are deeply saddened by the challenges Meriam is facing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her during this difficult time, and we hope that the community continues to support her in any way possible.
