Mevan Diyashan, Toronto, Ontario — Mevan Diyashan’s unexpected passing at his residence in Toronto, Canada, has left many in shock. The West End Buddhist Temple created a fundraiser yesterday to support Mevan’s final journey to Sri Lanka.
Mevan Diyashan moved from Sri Lanka to Canada in 2019, seeking better opportunities. He worked at The McEwan Group and studied at St. Benedict’s College, Colombo. Mevan was single and lived in Toronto but hailed from Ragama, Sri Lanka.
The fundraiser has raised $627 CAD of the $12,000 goal from 13 donations. All proceeds will help send Mevan’s body back to his family in Sri Lanka and cover the costs of his final rites.
Krishani Koshila Silva shared, "Still can’t believe this. Rest in Peace bokka Mevan Diyashan. Still reminds how you talk and laugh. This is really a heart shocking news. Rest in peace beautiful soul!"
Ramanan Manokaran requested help to send Mevan’s body back to Sri Lanka. Lakshan Dias also expressed his grief, saying, "Adoooo, mevana rest in peace bn."
