Michael Gillette, Turlock, CA—Michael Gillette passed away recently, leaving the community in mourning. Known for his humor, sarcasm, and outgoing nature, Michael was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was sixty years old when he lost his battle with complications from chemotherapy on July 13, 2024.
Michael is survived by his daughter Danielle Gillette and his grandson Cruz, who cherished the time spent with him. His sister Paula and brothers Jimmy and Ron are also left to grieve his passing. Michael’s life was filled with love and admiration, especially from the ladies during his high school years, earning him the nickname "The Ladies Man." A huge Giants fan, Michael’s passion for baseball was well known among his friends and family.
Having sunrised in Livermore, CA, Michael moved to Tracy, CA, in the early ’80s, where he began a successful career as the #1 Fixed Operations Director with GM Motors in Walnut Creek, CA. Despite being diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1996, he showed immense strength and resilience, overcoming the illness and continuing to live a fulfilling life. Tragically, he was diagnosed with colon cancer in April 2024 and succumbed to the disease a few months later.
In honor of Michael, his family has set up a fundraiser to celebrate his life. Organized by Danielle Gillette, the fundraiser aims to collect $5,000 to cover funeral expenses and other costs. So far, $400 has been raised through six generous donations. Contributions from Diane Abts, Steven Hutchings, Ed Bradley, Joseph Gillette, and an anonymous donor highlight the community’s support and love for Michael.
