Michael Gene McLaughlan, Marlette, MI—The community is in mourning following the sudden passing of Michael Gene McLaughlan on August 4, 2024. He was thirty-three years old. Michael was known for his infectious sense of humor and his love for anything with an engine, especially cars and dirt bikes. He was a dedicated husband to Megan and a loving father to their one-month-old daughter, Chloe.
Michael, born on June 13, 1991, in Royal Oak, Michigan, graduated from Marlette High School in 2010 and went on to study auto body repair at Wyotech in Pennsylvania. He was the proud owner and operator of Eastern Michigan Collision. In April of this year, Michael married Megan Lynn (VanSickle) in Tennessee.
His unexpected death leaves behind his wife Megan, daughter Chloe, parents Cindy and Kelly McLaughlan, and siblings Thomas (Megan), Joseph (Miriam), Heather (Mark), Marco, and Myah McLaughlan. Michael also leaves behind nieces and nephews Lucas, Finley, Calloway, Anderson, Elliot, Isla, Adelina, Oscar, and Winifred, as well as his cherished dogs Hoosier and Maverick.
Visitation for Michael will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 2-8 PM and on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 12-1 PM at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, Michigan. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM on August 9, 2024, at the same location. Contributions in Michael’s honor can be made to his daughter Chloe in care of Megan McLaughlan.
The family has organized a fundraiser to assist with funeral expenses and to support Megan and Chloe. As of now, $20,210 has been raised out of the $20,000 goal, thanks to the generosity of 221 donors. The community’s outpouring of support is a testament to the impact Michael had on those around him.
