Michael William Eifling, Kyle, TX — The community is mourning the loss of Michael William Eifling, affectionately known as Mike or "The Bean," who passed away on July 23, 2024, after a prolonged health battle. Born on December 21, 1969, in Lubbock, Texas, Mike was the first-born child in a large and loving extended family.
Growing up in Corpus Christi, TX, Mike developed a love for playing the guitar at a young age. After graduating from King High School in 1988, he moved to Austin and became an integral part of the city’s vibrant 1990s music scene, playing with his band, Downpour, in and around Austin’s famous Sixth Street. Summers spent in Harlingen, TX, with his extended family fostered his love of cooking, leading to his famous culinary creations.
In his final years, Mike lived in Kyle, TX, where he worked two jobs and took pride in raising his sons with his beloved wife. His backyard barbecues were legendary, and his Fourth of July renditions of the Star-Spangled Banner, Jimi Hendrix-style, were unforgettable. Known for his wit and sarcasm, Mike’s humor left a lasting impression on many.
Mike is survived by his wife, Dinalva Ferreira Eifling; his sons, Michael F. Eifling and Matheus F. Eifling; his mother, Linda Kribbs Nagy; his stepfather, Richard Nagy; his father, James Eifling; his grandmother, Tike Kribbs; his brother, Luke Nagy, and his sister, Natalie Nagy Green. He is also remembered by his extended family both in the United States and Brazil. Mike is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Howard & Annette Eifling; his maternal grandfather, H.W. “Bill” Kribbs; and his aunt, Rebecca Kribbs Rayborn.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Harrell Funeral Home Chapel, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to assist the family with medical expenses are encouraged.
The community has organized a fundraiser to support Mike’s loved ones during this difficult time. The goal is to raise $20,000 to help with various expenses, and the fundraiser is open for donations.
