Micheal Lee Kasson, Newark, OH—The Newark community is mourning the loss of Micheal Lee Kasson, who passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, surrounded by his family. Micheal was 71 years old and was known for his love of jazz music, classic rock, and talk radio. He was a retired mixer driver, having dedicated 25 years to his profession.
Micheal was a man of many talents and passions. He loved playing chess, often teaching and playing with his grandchildren, and he was known affectionately as "Chef Miguel" for his passion for cooking and barbecuing. His candid nature and belief in honesty were trademarks of his personality. He cherished time spent with his family, particularly enjoying moments together over ice cream.
Micheal is survived by his wife of 33 years, Loretta White, his daughters Chelsea White and Amanda Fitch, his son-in-law Joseph Fitch, and his four granddaughters, Kimberlynne White, Journey Foster, Diamond Fitch, and Sapphire Fitch. He is also survived by his brother, Chris Kasson, his sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Littleton and her husband Jim Littleton, and his lifelong friend Don Johnson and his wife Belva Johnson. Micheal leaves behind many nieces, nephews, half-siblings, step-siblings, and his beloved dog, Buddy.
A fundraiser has been organized by Amanda Fitch to cover Micheal’s funeral costs, with a goal of $5,400. As of now, $70 has been raised through three donations. The family faces the urgent need to raise the full amount by August 30th to give Micheal the farewell he deserves.
The community’s support through donations is greatly appreciated by the family. Amanda expressed her deep love and admiration for her father, saying, "I’ll love and miss you always dad, I could never wish for a better dad or palpal than you."
We extend our deepest sympathies to Micheal’s family and friends during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
