I am saddened by the news This is a huge shock, to losing a Community member, like, Mike was just at a safety meeting Thursday but I will charish the blessings I had a wonderful opportunity to know Mike Morgan. Back in 2015 I moved in to an TCHC building in Scarborough that was under repair. When I moved in I noticed so many things that had gone neglected. I decided to join in on a tenant meeting. Mike was there and he quickly gave me his phone number because he wanted to hear more of my concerns. He made me feel so glad ti have voiced my concerns about our buildings conditions. I felt like he truely cared and I finally found someone who was listening and was easy to talk to. Yes, things got addressed and fixed, and changes happened ‘are still in the works of happening ‘. So, I started calling him “Community Mike”. There’s been many things that Community Mike helped change for this building and its community. There’s so many but a few that are my favourites like delicious Turkey Dinners near Christmas and pretty awesome BBQ’s; the many meetings he attends to get tenant’s voices heard and finally things get done like importantly our lobby buzz system that went broken for over 17 years is operating . He is a lighthouse for hope and for good changes that makes a brighter future for many communities across Toronto Community Mike is an Outstanding , selfless and caring Man. I wonder if he knew how much he was appreciated. I don’t think I can thank him enough. My dearest condolences to his family, Community Mike will live on and he will be dearly missed. I think we can all be a little bit like Community Mike just by listening to each other with mutual respect for our communities we grow in.
