Milton McDonald Jr., Copperas Cove, TX— Milton McDonald Jr., affectionately known as "Mac," passed away on October 15, 2024, after a courageous 16-year battle with stage 4 cancer. His passing has left the community grieving the loss of a beloved friend, mentor, and family man.
Mac, a devout believer in the importance of community and connection, touched many lives through his service in the U.S. Army, where he dedicated 22 years and 8 months. His battle with cancer was attributed to his exposure to toxins during his service in war zones, and despite the struggles, he continued to live his life with generosity and love. He coached local youth sports, from wrestling and football to baseball and T-ball, and was known for his epic barbecues and his open-door policy, welcoming all who knew him.
To help ease the financial burden on Mac’s family, Shelly Martinez has organized a fundraiser. The community has come together to show their support. Donations are being made to assist with funeral expenses, as many of the benefits and insurance funds will not arrive in time for Mac’s final celebration of life.
Generous contributions have already started coming in from members of the community. M H donated $100, Jacob Townley contributed $300, and Charlene Young gave $50, among others. Shelly Martinez’s efforts to rally the community demonstrate the unity and love shared by all those who knew Mac.
