Monique’s legacy will live on through Mau Loa Ohana, the dance studio she founded and directed. Her love for life and faith was evident in her work, as she dedicated herself to uplifting others through dance and community outreach. In addition to her work at Mau Loa Ohana, Monique was known for founding the "Hula Away The Cancer Ho’ike" event in 2010, raising funds for the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Her final performance was held on October 12, 2024, at Antioch’s El Campanil Theatre, where she continued to inspire those in attendance.
Monique is survived by her husband Raul, daughters Alexandra and Kiana, son-in-law Gregory, grandson Oliver, and her sisters Joyce and Tina, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her passion for God, family, and dance touched countless lives, and her spirit will be deeply missed.
