Muduwa Harriet Mellan, who recently arrived in the UK from Uganda to join her British husband Stephen in Devonshire, has sadly passed away. Harriet was full of hope as she embarked on this new chapter of her life, having married Stephen in Uganda before moving to the UK in May 2024. Tragically, Harriet suffered a heart attack on her first day at work and was rushed to the hospital, where she passed away on August 23, 2024.
Harriet was a dedicated wife, especially after her husband suffered a stroke that left him unable to work, relying on social support for survival. Harriet’s passing has left her husband in a dire financial situation, with no funds to cover funeral expenses. Harriet leaves behind three children in Uganda, and her friends and the community are now rallying to raise the necessary funds to repatriate her body to Uganda for burial.
A fundraiser organized by Andrew Ttyaba on GoFundMe has been set up to cover the costs, which are estimated to be between £6,000 and £7,000. So far, £15 has been raised from two generous donations.
On Facebook, the community has expressed their grief and condolences. Robinah Wamanga shared, "RIP Sister Harriet," while Ceazer Ojatum commented, "So sad to hear the death of Mellan. MHSRIEP."
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Muduwa Harriet Mellan. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this challenging time.
