Nataki Bacchus-Etim—The tragic passing of Nataki Bacchus-Etim has left the community heartbroken, as her death was confirmed on September 1, 2024. Nataki, a dedicated mother and a well-respected professional, leaves behind her two children, Zarah (19) and Zachary (17), who are now facing the unimaginable grief of losing both parents.
Nataki, who had lost her husband, Michael, a few years prior, was deeply committed to creating a better future for her children. In January 2021, she courageously moved from their home country to Canada, settling first in Winnipeg, where she pursued further education. She excelled in the University of Winnipeg’s PACE diploma program in Human Resource Management, which led her to a career as a Recruiter at Fraser Health Authority in British Columbia after working for Shared Health as an HR Assistant.
Her passing has created a profound void for her children, who now have to navigate life without their parents’ love and guidance while adjusting to life in a new country. Zarah and Zachary are described as bright, full of potential, but the emotional and financial burden is immense. A fundraiser has been set up by Tiffany Evans and others to support them through this difficult time.
The campaign, titled “Support for Zarah and Zachary: Navigating Life After Loss,” aims to raise $10,000 to help with living expenses and educational costs for the siblings. So far, $250 has been raised through the generosity of donors, including anonymous supporters, Adelana Adeleye-Olusae, and Tiffany Evans.
The community’s support during this challenging time is invaluable to Zarah and Zachary, as they strive to carry on their mother’s legacy of resilience and hope.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Etim family. May Nataki rest in peace, and may her children find strength in the love and memories she left behind.
