Nia Simone Smith, Spartanburg, SC—The community mourns the heartbreaking loss of Nia Simone Smith, a cherished mother, colleague, and friend, who passed away unexpectedly. Nia was a dedicated employee of Carolina Foothills Federal Credit Union and had recently earned her certification as a Credit Union Financial Counselor. Her kindness, dedication, and compassion touched everyone she encountered.
Nia’s life revolved around her children, Nylah, Elijah, and Novah, for whom she worked tirelessly to provide a bright future. A devoted mother, her love for them was evident in every aspect of her life. In this time of immense sorrow, a fundraiser organized by Grace Simonelli has been established to support Nia’s children as they face this profound loss.
In addition to her role as a mother, Nia was an active member of her community. She was a proud alumna of Union County Schools, where she excelled in both academics and athletics. Nia continued her education at USC Union, where she was crowned Miss USC Union Palmetto College and earned both her associate and bachelor’s degrees.
Nia leaves behind not only her children but also their father, D’Garyan Jeter, her parents, Kimberly Gory Glenn and Reginald Lewis Smith, and a wide circle of extended family and friends. The community has come together to support her family in this difficult time, with early donations showing heartfelt generosity.
The GoFundMe, titled “In Memory of Nia: Caring for Nylah, Elijah, and Novah,” has received contributions from several kind donors, including Nicole Mitchell, Grace Simonelli, and Sarah Haviland. The aim of the fundraiser is to ensure that Nia’s children are cared for, honoring the love and dedication she showed to them throughout her life.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Nia’s family, friends, and especially her children during this incredibly difficult time. May her memory continue to inspire all who knew her.
