Innocent Kamalondo, Nkonde’s brother, is organizing a fundraiser to cover the expenses of repatriating Nkonde’s body to their family in Africa, where he will be laid to rest. Innocent, who was attending a class at the New York Auto & Diesel Institute at the time of Nkonde’s passing, received the heartbreaking news from a family friend. He rushed to Nkonde’s home, only to find his brother lying on the carpet, deceased.
