Patrick L. Hayes, a cherished member of the Hideout, UT community, passed away recently, leaving friends, family, and loved ones in deep sorrow. Patrick was a well-known small business owner with a deep passion for swimming and water polo, a love that he carried with him throughout his life. His passing has left a significant void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Patrick, 61, was a standout athlete at the University of Utah, where he earned NCAA Division I All-American honors in swimming. His talent and dedication extended beyond personal achievement, as he later turned to coaching, where he shared his knowledge and passion for water polo with younger generations. He continued to play and coach at various levels, spreading his love for the sport throughout the local, national, and international arenas.
Above all, Patrick’s greatest love was for his family. He is survived by his son Christian and his fiancée Sue Ann Kern, as well as her daughters, Sam and Jess. His siblings Leanne, Mike (Melissa), Matt (Jeanne), and Andy (Brenna), along with his nieces, nephews, and grandnephew, remember him as a devoted and loving family member who brought joy to every gathering. Patrick’s lively spirit shone through his love for travel, fitness, and engaging discussions on various topics. Whether on his daily walks with his dog, Tilly, or through friendly neighborhood conversations, his presence made a lasting impact.
A fundraiser has been set up by Drew Cloud in memory of Patrick, with the aim of supporting his family during this challenging time. The community has already begun showing its support, with $1,500 raised in just one hour.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Patrick’s family and friends during this time of immense grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with them, and we wish them strength as they navigate this painful loss.
