Paul battled Type 1 diabetes for 50 years, earning a medal from the Joslin Diabetes Center for his perseverance. Despite his excellent eating habits and physical activity, the relentless nature of his condition led to severe complications. Over the past few years, he faced multiple amputations and infections, and most recently, a stroke and heart attack.
