Peter K. Tear, 37, of San Gabriel, California—Peter K. Tear passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, leaving behind a community filled with grief. Known for his infectious smile and warm spirit, Peter was a loving father, devoted partner, and cherished friend.
Peter is survived by his partner, Michelle Lee, and their two daughters, Arianna and Aolani, who meant the world to him. He was a beloved son of Jimmy Meng and Annie Taing, and a caring brother to Kim Baron (Chris) and Casey Tear (Alyssa). His nieces and nephews, Max, Zander, and Lana, adored their Uncle Peter.
A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, Peter had a passion for cooking that he shared with his family and friends. Despite his struggles with addiction, Peter’s resilience inspired many, and his family held hope for his recovery. Sadly, addiction claimed his life far too soon, leaving his loved ones heartbroken.
A funeral service was held on October 12th at Universal Chung Wah Funeral Chapel in Alhambra. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to cover funeral expenses and continue honoring Peter’s memory. The community has rallied in support, with contributions from people like Ben Huang, Darin Souza, and Nichole Heidrick, along with anonymous donors.
Peter’s legacy of love and kindness will forever be remembered by those who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends, and his spirit will live on in their hearts.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the family during this time of sorrow. May Peter rest in peace, and may his family find strength and comfort in the cherished memories they shared with him.
