Phani Kumar Pilli, Calgary, AB — Phani Kumar Pilli, a young Telugu student studying at SAIT, tragically passed away on December 13th, 2024, after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was only in the early stages of his academic journey, with big dreams of achieving success and uplifting his family back in India.
Phani came from a humble background and was the eldest son in his family, carrying the hopes and aspirations of his loved ones. His sudden and untimely passing has left his family in shock, with no financial resources to cover the cost of transporting his body back to India. In response, the Telugu Association of Calgary (TAC) and Calgary Telangana Association (CTA), alongside compassionate members of the community, have stepped in to help facilitate the transportation and funeral arrangements.
A fundraiser has been organized by Sadsiva Reddy Guvvala, aiming to raise funds for the funeral and body transport costs. To date, over $5,800 CAD has been raised through the generosity of 90 donors, including significant contributions from Ramesh Peri and anonymous supporters.
The community has rallied around Phani’s grieving family, offering both financial assistance and emotional support during this incredibly difficult time. The funds will not only help with funeral expenses but also provide much-needed relief to his family as they process this heartbreaking loss.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Phani Kumar Pilli. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this tragic period.
