Rachel Macaylee Turner, Toronto, ON— Rachel Macaylee Turner passed away following a tragic incident, and the news has left her community in deep sorrow. Rachel, 22, was a cherished daughter of Susan and Leon, and a loving sister to Nathan and Lauren. The loss has deeply impacted not just her family but also her many friends, classmates, and those in the Beaches community in Toronto.
Rachel was known for her ambition, kindness, and empathy. She graduated from Malvern Collegiate and went on to attend Wilfrid Laurier University, where she majored in Business Administration. Her time at Laurier was filled with achievements, including her involvement in the Mighty Hawks program, where she helped young adults with developmental challenges find employment.
She recently returned from a seven-month trip to Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia with her soulmate, Matt. Her time abroad brought her immense happiness, and her friends and family recall how her joyful spirit and love for life shone through in every smile and picture.
In her final selfless act, Rachel had signed her organ donor card, ensuring that five families could be helped through her generous decision. To carry on Rachel’s spirit of giving, the Rachel Turner Legacy Fund has been established. The fund will provide resources and support to young people, including crisis counseling, ensuring Rachel’s compassion continues to impact lives in a meaningful way.
Sandra Macedo shared her thoughts on Facebook, writing, “If you can find it in your heart to donate to this cause it would mean so much to this family who tragically lost their daughter a little over a week ago. Rest in Peace Rachel and may God give the family strength to carry on.”
We extend our deepest sympathies to Rachel’s family and loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this incredibly difficult time.
