Rhonda L. Neal, Indianapolis, IN—Rhonda L. Neal passed away on August 24, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of service, love, and community involvement that has deeply touched those who knew her. Born on September 29, 1962, Rhonda’s journey through life was marked by her dedication to her family, her country, and her community.
Rhonda spent her early years in Hapeville, Georgia, where she was raised by her mother, Allene, alongside her brother, Ricky. She later pursued higher education at ASU before joining the U.S. Army, where she served with honor and dedication, eventually achieving the rank of Captain. Her military career was unfortunately cut short due to medical conditions, leading to her honorable discharge.
Despite the challenges she faced, Rhonda’s life was full of adventure and purpose. She married, built a family, and became a mother to Shauna Fox and Amanda Hopkins. She also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren: Naomi Fox, Ileigha Fox, Hunter Fox, Jonathan Hopkins, and Melynnie Hopkins, who will carry on her legacy.
Rhonda balanced her professional life, working for many years at MCL Cafeteria, where she managed the technical department with expertise, with her roles as a mother and active community member. Whether she was leading a Girl Scout meeting, organizing fundraisers, or enjoying her favorite hobbies like traveling to concerts or playing euchre, Rhonda lived life to the fullest.
In the last decade, Rhonda faced significant health challenges that slowed her down, but she fought through them with grace and determination, never losing her spirit. Ultimately, it was her time, and God called her home.
In honor of Rhonda’s life and to assist with memorial expenses, Amanda Hopkins has organized a fundraiser. The community is invited to contribute to this cause, and any donation would be greatly appreciated.
