Ricky Pete, Kenner, LA—The community is in mourning after the passing of Ricky Pete, who left us on the morning of July 26th. Ricky fought a long and tiresome battle with stage 4 emphysema (COPD), enduring significant challenges with every breath he took.
Ricky’s condition deteriorated over the last six months, during which he required 24/7 care from his daughter after being placed on Home Hospice Care. His illness led to severe oxygen deprivation, causing panic attacks, frequent falls, and periods where he was unable to communicate or be aware of his actions. Despite his struggles, Ricky did not share the extent of his illness until he needed his daughter’s support.
The financial burden of Ricky’s care left his daughter with little ability to provide additional income. Their modest monthly check was just enough to cover utility bills and groceries. However, funds are now insufficient to cover the cremation and memorial service costs.
Ashlie Pete, Ricky’s daughter, has organized a fundraiser to help cover these expenses. So far, $100 has been raised out of the $3,000 goal, thanks to the kind donations from two anonymous donors.
Ricky Pete’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. The community’s support during this difficult time is greatly appreciated.
We are deeply saddened to learn of Ricky Pete’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
