Riley Collins Dean, Wilmington, DE—The Wilmington community is heartbroken as they mourn the loss of Riley Collins Dean, who passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, September 23, 2024. Riley was just twenty-nine years old and left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
A graduate of St. Mark’s High School, class of 2013, Riley was active in ice hockey and volleyball. He was known for his eclectic taste in music, his love for drawing and sketching, and his ability to bring laughter to those around him. Riley found joy in spending time at the beach, enjoying the ocean, and fishing. Despite being raised in a family of Eagles fans, he stayed loyal to his Dallas Cowboys, showing his unique personality and love for the game.
Riley’s passing has left a significant void in the lives of his parents, Sheri Sutton and her husband Ed, Edward Dean and his wife Patricia, and his siblings Tayler Dean, Nathan Anderson, Erin Fawcett, Lauren Prather, and Ashley June. He is also deeply missed by his grandparents, Jim and Nancy Duffin, and Georgia Sutton, along with twelve nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Brody. Riley was predeceased by his grandparents, F. Roy Dean Sr., Lillian Dean, and Edward Sutton Jr.
In an effort to support the family during this difficult time, Riley’s sister Ashley June has organized a fundraiser to help offset the unexpected costs of planning a funeral and navigating the loss of their child. The family appreciates any support, whether through donations or sharing memories of Riley, as they work through this unimaginable grief.
