He underwent brain surgery shortly after his diagnosis and was released from the hospital on February 9th, 2024. Despite his illness, Robert remained hopeful and diligent, following a ketogenic diet and cherishing the time he had with his loved ones.
In April of 2024, Robert experienced a memorable moment when he witnessed the eclipse in totality in Vermont with his friends and family. Throughout his journey, he was visited by many of his friends and family, maintaining his ability to communicate up until a couple of weeks before his passing.
Robert’s final moments were spent surrounded by his family in his home, a testament to the strong bonds and love that he cultivated throughout his life. His brother, Jeremy Kitchens, has organized a fundraiser to support the family during this difficult time.
