Rolland H Roth Jr, Schertz, TX— It is with profound sadness that we report the passing of retired CMSgt Rolland H Roth Jr. After a courageous battle with cancer, Rolland passed away recently, leaving behind a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Rolland’s struggle with metastatic renal cell carcinoma, which spread to his lungs, began in September. Despite treatment, the illness proved far more aggressive than anticipated, and just two months later, he passed away. Known as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Rolland’s influence reached many who viewed him as both a mentor and a source of strength.
The community and family are coming together in support of his loved ones during this difficult time. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to assist with funeral costs and other expenses. The service will take place on Friday, November 22nd, at Schertz Funeral Home, with a viewing the evening prior. Following the service, Rolland will be honored with a military burial at Fort Sam Cemetery.
Messages of support have been pouring in on social media. Jerrad VanGeest shared a heartfelt post remembering his father-in-law: “Sadly my Father in-law passed away after his battle with cancer. He was truly a great man and made a positive impact on anyone who was fortunate to know him. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.” Other friends and family members, including Chad Sweep, Shelly Mire, DeeAnn VanGeest Lundberg, and Charles Rising, have expressed their condolences with words of comfort and love.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rolland’s family and all those affected by this loss. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched.
