Rosa Inez Quiroz— The Pilsen community in Chicago’s south side is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Rosa Inez Quiroz on October 11, 2024. Rosa was a cherished mother to Heriberto and Homero Jr., who, in this difficult time, seek support for funeral expenses and flowers to honor her life.
Originally from Cocula, Guerrero, Mexico, Rosa made Pilsen her home and was known for her compassionate and loving nature. Her life was filled with devotion to her family and to the many generations of immigrants she met, whom she helped with kindness and support. Friends and family remember her fondly for the pride she took in her migrant roots and the love she shared with everyone around her.
In her later years, Rosa enjoyed watching her favorite telenovelas and live-action movies, bringing joy to her life and those who surrounded her. Her sons, while deeply grieving, find comfort in the thought that their mother is now reunited with their father, Homero Sr., who passed away in 2010.
Her passing has touched the hearts of many. On social media, the community has shown their support. The “NO Pilsen TIF” Facebook page shared:
“It is with great sadness that we share with you that Rosa Inez Quiroz… was a beautiful and devoted soul who instilled in her sons the ability to discern right from wrong and to extend kindness and compassion to their fellow man.”
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been organized by Victor Yañez-Lazcano to assist with the funeral costs, and the family is looking to the community for help during this difficult time.
Rosa Inez Quiroz will be remembered for her warmth, her love of family, and the light she brought to all who knew her. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this time of grief.
