Rudolfo "Woody" Vasquez, born on March 19th, 1967, sadly passed away on September 2nd, 2024, during the early afternoon. Surrounded by family, his passing has left a void in the hearts of those who loved him. At the age of 57, Uncle Rudy, as he was fondly known, had served his country in two wars, Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Despite his service, the Veterans Affairs will not cover the funeral costs as he is not being laid to rest in an armed forces cemetery. However, the family will receive an American flag in honor of his military service. Rudy’s final wish was to return to San Antonio, Texas, where he can be reunited with his mother, Grandma Stella, in eternal rest.
His niece, Monique Puga, has organized a GoFundMe campaign titled "Support Uncle Rudy’s Last Journey" to help fulfill his last wishes and cover funeral expenses. The goal is set at $4,000, but as of now, there are no donations yet. Monique and her family are deeply grateful for any support during this difficult time.
As the family continues to plan his services, they will share details with loved ones when available. Please consider donating to help bring Uncle Rudy home and give him the peaceful farewell he deserves.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Vasquez family during this incredibly difficult time. May Rudy rest in peace, and may his family find comfort and strength.
