Ruth Nawasreh Medina, lovingly remembered as "Gramma" by her grandchildren and "Nanu" by her great-grandchildren, passed away on October 10, 2024, after a determined fight against two types of dementia. The cherished resident of Wolcott, CT, leaves a void in the lives of those who knew her, especially her children, Lucinda Marthers and Elisa, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her granddaughter, Christina Robinson, has launched a fundraiser to help fulfill Ruth’s final wishes: to be cremated and her ashes returned to Puerto Rico to rest with her son, Phillipe. Initially, a family member offered to cover the funeral expenses; however, due to unforeseen financial challenges, the family now seeks community support to bring Ruth’s ashes home.
In heartfelt gratitude, Christina extends appreciation to all who have contributed. Support from friends like Lucinda Marthers, Leigh-Anne D’Addario, Jeff Mottola, James Jaffee, and Michael Bernardi has helped raise some funds, but more is still needed. The campaign aims to cover the costs of transferring her remains, enabling her family to honor Ruth’s final wishes and bring peace to those she leaves behind.
Our hearts go out to the Medina family. May they find comfort and strength during this difficult time, and may Ruth Nawasreh Medina’s memory live on in the love she brought to her family.
