Ryder Shortridge, Lincoln County, WV— The community is grieving the sudden passing of Ryder Shortridge, a bright and energetic young boy who was deeply loved by all who knew him. Ryder was an active member of the Lincoln County Little League, known for his passion for sports. He played baseball, often seen on first base wearing his proud #23 jersey, and participated in basketball during the off-season. His involvement didn’t stop there—Ryder was also a dedicated team manager for Guyan Valley football, a role he embraced with great pride.
Ryder’s twin sister, Remi, and older twin brothers, Jaxon and Kadon, are part of the close-knit Shortridge family, which has received an overwhelming outpouring of support from the community. Ryder’s joyful personality, his adventurous spirit, and his love for sports endeared him to many.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Tiffany Cartwright shared her experience from a recent community vigil, expressing how all of Lincoln County came together in this time of need. She spoke of comforting sobbing children and expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love and support the family received. She also thanked Jonah Adkins for leading the vigil and Jeremy Wilson for offering a beautiful prayer. Many others echoed similar sentiments, with Jessica Roberts, Amanda Cox, and Courtney N James Scarberry expressing their thanks and love for the Shortridge family.
A GoFundMe fundraiser titled "Honoring Ryder Shortridge: A Community Tribute" has been organized by Brandi Bell to help ease the financial burden on Ryder’s family as they prepare for his memorial services. The goal is to raise $10,000, and so far, $170 has been contributed, with donations from Jessica Roberts and Brandi and Josh Bell leading the way.
Ryder’s passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of his family, friends, teammates, and the entire community. As they come together to remember his vibrant life, their prayers and thoughts remain with the Shortridge family.
