Safia Karieem, Nelson— With deep sorrow, we report the passing of Safia Karieem, a cherished sister, aunt, and mother, who passed away on Sunday, 15th December 2024. The news has shaken the Nelson community, as Safia was known for her warm heart, selflessness, and dedication to caring for others.
A devoted carer by profession, Safia went beyond the typical role of a caregiver; her work was a true vocation, and she committed herself to supporting the most vulnerable in the community. Her kindness and generosity were reflected in the lives of the many people she touched, both personally and professionally.
Safia was also a devoted mother, who raised two daughters single-handedly, without family support. Her family was everything to her, and her daughters were the pride of her life. Known for her warm smile and comforting presence, Safia was the glue that held her family together and was a beloved figure among friends and neighbors.
A fundraiser has been set up by Ameerah Mehmood to support Safia’s daughters during this incredibly difficult time. The fundraiser aims to ease their financial burden and provide some relief as they navigate the challenging days ahead. The community has responded generously, with contributions pouring in to support the family.
In these moments of grief, the family asks for prayers and duas for Safia’s soul. Donations will also serve as a form of Sadaqah Jariyah, a continuous charity, which is hoped to benefit Safia in the hereafter.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, and we send our condolences to all those who were fortunate enough to know Safia.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Safia Karieem. May Allah grant her peace and place her in Jannatul Firdaus. Our thoughts are with her daughters and all her loved ones during this heartbreaking time.
