Sam Strider Halbert, Marshall, NC — The community is mourning the loss of Sam Strider Halbert, who passed away recently. Sam’s passing has left a profound impact on his family, friends, and the wider community.
In 2019, Sam sustained an anoxic brain injury after being stung by a bee. Despite his end-of-life wishes, his family chose the path of recovery, hoping for improvements in his quality of life. After enduring five years of medical challenges, including unexplained seizures, Sam entered hospice care at the Center for Conscious Living and Dying. Surrounded by loved ones, he passed away on June 15th and was cremated on June 20th.
A fundraiser, organized by Samantha Koontz, has been launched to cover the cremation and celebration of life expenses. So far, $1,270 has been raised out of the $7,000 goal, with contributions from eight generous donors. Notable donations include $500 from Christopher Ponder and $100 from Cara Peer.
The celebration of life is planned for 2025, allowing family and friends time to arrange their participation. The journey of the past five years, although challenging, has been marked by the unwavering support and love from the community.
