Santiago Vasquez, affectionately known as “Chaguito,” passed away on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Chaguito, a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend, was deeply cherished for his big heart, sincere love for people, and warm smile. His love for sports, Puerto Rican culture, and his ever-present humor will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Chaguito faced an 8-year battle with leukemia but remained in good spirits throughout, always maintaining his trademark smile. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends, who now face the task of arranging a dignified farewell.
Vivían Quiñones has organized a fundraiser to support Santiago Vasquez’s memorial arrangements. The goal is to raise $20,000, and so far, $260 has been contributed by four donors. The Vasquez family is grateful for the kindness and generosity shown during this difficult time.
Chaguito is survived by his beloved mother, Gladys; his three sisters, Vivian, Veronica, and Vernice; his significant other, Evita; his four sons, Isaiah, Sebastian, Jaden, and Carter; his two daughters, Asia and Peyton; and his grandson, Isaiah Jr. The family holds onto hope, finding comfort in the promise of a future reunion as recorded in John 5:28, 29.
