A man of simple pleasures, Santos found joy in homemade meals, the wisdom of The Bible, and the music of James Blunt, particularly the song "Beautiful." He was an avid basketball fan, enjoyed running five miles daily, and loved spending time at the beach, his favorite vacation spot. His towering presence and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

His dedication and skill earned him numerous decorations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal (3), Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Navy Good Conduct Medal (3). Despite his service-related disabilities, Santos remained steadfast in his devotion to his family, caring for his parents in their final years.
To honor Santos’s life and legacy, a fundraiser has been organized to bring him back from Puerto Rico for a military honors funeral at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. This final tribute aims to reflect the deep respect and love his family and community have for him. The goal is to raise $1,500 to cover the costs of transporting Santos back to Jacksonville and providing him with the honorable farewell he deserves. So far, $110 has been raised through the generous contributions of Eunice Assem ($50), Devin Michaels Martinez ($50), and Manny Colon ($10).
