Known to his friends and family as Scott, he leaves behind a legacy of service and dedication, both to his country and to his passion for music.
Scott, a beloved member of the community, served in the Army for 25 years, earning numerous accolades including the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal among many others. His commitment to his country took him around the world, and his dedication was recognized with multiple awards for his service and leadership.
Born with a love for music, Scott was an avid drummer from a young age. He played in his first band, "Sounds of Silence," at just 12 years old. After dedicating his early years to the military, he returned to his passion for drumming, joining the 1980s cover band "The Breakfast Club." Scott’s love for music extended beyond performance; he was also a strong supporter of the Guitars for Vets organization, which helps veterans cope with PTSD through music.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Doris May Kappelmann and Robert H. Kappelmann, and his siblings, Walter Kappelmann and Sandra J. Laux. He is survived by his sister Kathleen Bernstein, his brother Russell Kappelmann, twin sisters Jean Kloke and Jann Weber, and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends, including his dear friend Ralph Navarino.
A fundraiser organized by Scott’s nephew, Alex Weber, aims to support the family’s travel expenses for Scott’s burial at Arlington National Cemetery, where he will receive full military honors. The family is currently seeking to raise $5,000 to assist with these costs, and they are grateful for the community’s support during this time of loss.
