Shaleah Royal, Desert Hot Springs, CA — Shaleah Royal passed away on December 2, 2024, after a long and difficult battle with health challenges. She was deeply loved by her family, especially her father, Eugene, and her younger brothers. Shaleah, known affectionately as "Nanny" to her family, touched the hearts of everyone she met with her cheerful, caring nature.
Shaleah’s life was marked by resilience in the face of numerous hardships. At the age of 16, she was diagnosed with meningitis and blood sepsis, which led to a period of critical care, including a 90-minute resuscitation. Despite losing five toes, undergoing skin grafts, and suffering hearing loss in her right ear, Shaleah fought to overcome her physical challenges. Over the years, she also faced mental health struggles but continued to persevere.
She had moved to Las Vegas for a few years but returned to live with her father, Eileen Rios, and her brothers in July 2024. For the next several months, Shaleah worked hard to manage her health issues, but unfortunately, she passed away at the age of 18.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by Eileen Rios to cover memorial expenses for Shaleah. The campaign has raised $50 so far, with contributions from Noreen Rios and Esther Tankersley.
Shaleah’s family and friends are left to mourn her loss, but they will always cherish the memories of her kindness, laughter, and strength through adversity.
We are deeply saddened by Shaleah Royal’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.
