Sheila Elizabeth Eastman, Flandreau, SD— Sheila Elizabeth Eastman passed away unexpectedly on December 15th, 2024, leaving a deep void in the hearts of her family and the community. Sheila, known by her Lakota name Zitkadan Ho Waste Win (Good Voice Bird Woman), was a beloved mother, sister, and daughter. Her untimely passing has deeply affected her four children—Asa, Aleah, Wakinyan, and Abel Eastman.
Sheila’s legacy lives on through her children, especially Asa, who is currently attending college in Bismarck, ND. She was their primary financial support and the emotional center of their lives. Her family, while devastated, was able to honor her with a meaningful funeral service just before the holidays, ensuring her children had the best Christmas possible under the heartbreaking circumstances.
A fundraiser organized by Angeline Eastman aims to cover the remaining balance of Sheila’s funeral expenses and to help design a headstone that reflects the beautiful spirit of their mother, as envisioned by her children. Any additional donations will be placed in an account for the children’s future needs. So far, $75 has been raised through a generous donation from Melissa Pokorney.
In this difficult time, many have reached out, offering prayers and support to the Eastman family. The love and light Sheila brought to the world will not be forgotten, and her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Eastman family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you navigate this profound loss.
