Sou Thao, a beloved member of the Sacramento community, passed away on August 19, 2024. Known for his deep connection with animals and plants, Sou’s life was marked by perseverance and dedication despite the many challenges he faced. His passing has left a significant void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor, Glioblastoma, in May, Sou’s health rapidly declined over the following months. His diagnosis came at a time when he had just begun a new job, but unfortunately, he was without health benefits or life insurance. Faced with the progression of his illness, Sou chose not to undergo treatment and was placed in hospice care in July.
The Thao family is now seeking the community’s support to cover the costs of Sou’s funeral expenses. His sibling, Pai Thao, has organized a fundraiser to help with these expenses, setting a goal of $25,000. As of today, $300 has been raised through the generosity of four donors. The contributions so far include $100 from Teresa Sabatasso, $50 from Thai Vang, $100 from Sher Thao, and $50 from Vong Vang.
The love and support shown by the community during this difficult time are deeply appreciated by Sou’s family. As they work to finalize funeral arrangements, they continue to reach out for financial support to give Sou the memorial he deserves.
