Stanley Lane Roby, Woodsfield, OH—Stanley Lane Roby passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Moundsville Healthcare Center after a brief but tough battle with cancer. He was 71 years old.
Stan’s wife, Joan Marie Packett Roby, lovingly penned a tribute to him, sharing their life together. The couple traveled extensively across the United States, visiting 45 states. They were in the process of planning their final big trip to the far northwest states when Stan passed away.
A 1972 graduate of Beallsville High School, Stan’s early career began at Advanced Glove Manufacturing in Detroit, before moving to Fort Worth, TX, where he worked at Pier 1 Imports and later pursued work with Office Max, Tuesday Morning, and Trader Joe’s. In 2008, Stan retired from corporate life and bought the Malaga Greenhouse, where he found great pride in his work as a grower. The couple later sold the greenhouse and moved to Woodsfield in 2018, where they enjoyed peaceful mornings fishing on Monroe Lake.
Stan’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to The Stan Roby Memorial Landscape Fund, a project that Stan had planned for their home.
There will be no memorial service, as per his wishes. His ashes will be scattered by his family and friends at locations that held special meaning to him.
Our hearts are heavy as we reflect on Stan’s life, and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.
