Tina Stanfield, a cherished member of the Alabama State Parks community, passed away in mid-August 2024. Tina was known for her deep commitment to her work and her infectious love for Bucks Pocket State Park, where she returned to work in May 2021 as an office clerk after caring for her husband, Charlie. Her return marked a time when she became beloved by almost everyone she encountered, from co-workers to the park’s visitors.
In the fall of 2023, Tina was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, which deeply saddened those who knew her. Despite her brave battle, she had to take leave to undergo treatments, during which time her daughters provided care at home. Unfortunately, after a long fight, Tina passed away, leaving a void in the hearts of her loved ones and the park community.
Heather McCann, a close friend, expressed her sorrow on Facebook, writing, "It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of one of our own, Tina M. Stanfield. Tina went home to her husband Charlie in mid-August 2024. A celebration of life will be planned in October at Buck’s Pocket."
Heather McCann has also organized a GoFundMe campaign titled "Celebrate Tina’s Life: Memorial Fundraiser," aiming to raise $2,000 to support Tina’s daughters in covering the memorial service and the celebration of life planned for October. As of now, the fundraiser is seeking its first donor, with the hope that the community will rally together to honor Tina’s memory.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Tina Stanfield. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.
