Tom Aguirre, a cherished member of the Santa Ana community, passed away on Saturday, August 31, leaving a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him. Tom was known for his warm personality, dedication to his family, and passion for sports, especially his love for the 49ers, Angels, and Ducks. He also took great pride in his beautifully restored 1937 Plymouth and spent memorable moments with his Showdown Car Club brothers.
Tom worked in Graphic Services with the Desert Sands Unified School District for 23 years, where he was a vital part of the team, handling all printing needs from classroom worksheets to yearbooks. His commitment to his work and his ability to bring people together will be remembered fondly by his colleagues.
Tom’s health had been declining due to ongoing liver issues, but his family remained hopeful as they explored options for a liver transplant. Tragically, complications arose after he was admitted to Kaiser Riverside on Thursday, August 22. Despite being transferred to Kaiser Los Angeles for specialized care, Tom passed away on the evening of August 31, at 10:02 p.m. His death has left his family in deep shock as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
In addition to his professional life, Tom was devoted to his family, always making time to gather with his loved ones for laughs and even spontaneous street dances. He is deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A GoFundMe has been organized by Erin Quintanilla to help cover the unexpected medical bills from Tom’s 10-day hospital stay, as well as funeral expenses. The community is encouraged to support the Aguirre family during this difficult time, with donations going directly to them, including support for Tom’s beloved mother, Petra.
On Facebook, friends have shared their condolences. Whitney Simmons commented, "I’m so sorry for your loss, Dario. Thinking about you and your family." Tom’s brother, Dario Aguirre, responded with gratitude, saying, “Thank you.”
Tom Aguirre’s passing has left a lasting impact on all who knew him, and he will always be remembered for his love of life, family, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Aguirre family during this incredibly difficult time.
