Toribio Topete Ramos, Hawarden, IA— Toribio Topete Ramos passed away unexpectedly on December 19, 2024, at the age of 81. His sudden departure has left the community in deep sorrow. Toribio was a joyful and energetic individual, well-loved by all who knew him.

Born on March 23, 1943, in La Cienega de Los Ahumada, Jalisco, Mexico, Toribio moved to Hawarden, Iowa, where he made his home for over 25 years. He was a man of simple pleasures, often seen walking around town or sitting outside local businesses, engaging in conversations with anyone he met. His love for life was evident, particularly when he attended parties and danced, always bringing energy and joy to those around him.

Toribio was a devoted father to six children: Ma. Araceli, Veronica, Juan, Laura, Alonso, and Norma. He also had 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, who will carry on his memory. After retiring, Toribio split his time between Iowa and Mexico, cherishing his connections and memories in both places.

Known affectionately as "El Ágüelo," Toribio’s infectious spirit and warmth touched the lives of many. His family, friends, and community will always remember his sense of humor, the wise words he shared, and the joy he brought to every celebration.

A fundraiser has been organized by his daughter, Norma Montes, to help cover funeral expenses. The family is deeply grateful for the support from the community during this difficult time.
