Valerie Loyer, a resident of Verdun, QC, passed away on October 10, 2024, at 9:22 p.m. after a courageous battle with uterine cancer. Valerie was 35 years old when she passed. Her fight began in December 2023 when she was diagnosed, and despite her determination to overcome the disease, she entered the terminal phase in July 2024.
Valerie’s family and friends stood by her side, celebrating her 35th birthday with her in the hospital. While her wish to return home was granted, her condition quickly worsened, and she was soon back at the hospital where she spent her final days. Valerie’s strength and resilience were admired by all who knew her, and she leaves behind her two children, Émily and Anthony, as well as her parents, Anne and Sylvain, her siblings, her best friend, and her extended family.
Marie Savard, a close friend, has organized a fundraiser to help cover the costs of Valerie’s funeral. The community has already started showing their support with donations, but the goal has not yet been reached, and additional help is still needed to provide Valerie with a service that reflects her life and spirit. Any remaining funds from the donations will be given to uterine cancer research in Valerie’s honor.
Valerie’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to the palliative care team on the 10th floor of the Royal-Victoria Hospital for their compassionate care in her final days.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Valerie Loyer’s family and friends during this difficult time. May she rest in peace.
