Warana Tripurasasi Sasi, affectionately known as "Sasi," passed away on September 11, 2024, following a long and difficult battle with breast cancer. Sasi’s family and the community of Odenton are deeply grieving the loss of a beloved wife, mother, and friend. She leaves behind her husband of 22 years, Joshua Finch, and two teenage sons, Dylan and Nicholas.
Sasi was first diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in January 2019. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, a mastectomy, and radiation therapy, the cancer returned in August 2023, spreading to her bones. The family remained hopeful as treatment kept the disease in check for a time. However, in July 2024, Sasi developed leptomeningeal disease, an advanced stage of cancer that spread to her brain and spinal column. Despite the family’s best efforts, Sasi passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024.
A fundraiser organized by her husband, Joshua Finch, has raised $2,381 out of a $15,000 goal. The funds will help cover funeral expenses and the significant medical costs the family incurred during her treatment. Additionally, a portion of the funds will be donated to the Cabrini Mission Foundation, a cause close to Sasi’s heart due to her dedication to helping the poor, sick, and underprivileged throughout her life.
The community has shown their support through donations, with a particularly large anonymous contribution of $2,231 made recently. Other donors include Rachel Williams, John Thomas, and Tami Davies-Coleman, each giving $50 in Sasi’s memory.
Our hearts go out to the Finch family during this difficult time. May Sasi’s legacy of service and compassion live on through the lives she touched. We pray for strength and comfort for Joshua, Dylan, Nicholas, and all who mourn her passing.
