Baton Rouge Community Remembers 33-Year-Old Avery Arceneaux After Deadly Incident At Afton Oaks Apartment Complex
Avery Arceneaux, 33, died Wednesday morning, May 27, 2026, at the Afton Oaks apartment complex on Newcastle Avenue in Baton Rouge.
Baton Rouge Police said officers responded around 10:30 a.m. after reports of gunfire and found Avery and one other person with fatal injuries inside the property.
Investigators described the case as domestic-related and continued gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses after both people were pronounced dead at the scene.
Friends, relatives, and supporters remembered Avery, also known online as Arceneaux Ave, as caring, expressive, and deeply loved by many people across the community.
Neighbors said police vehicles and emergency responders filled the apartment area as residents tried to understand the sudden loss.
