Danny First, Beloved Father and Combat Infantryman, Dies Unexpectedly at 42 in Oregon
Danny First, a cherished father, brother, son, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on March 16th, 2026, at the age of 42.
Known for his service as a Combat Infantryman in Ramadi, Iraq, Danny’s greatest pride and joy was his 9-year-old son, Greysen.
In honor of his legacy, a memorial service will take place on May 1st, 2026, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in Tillamook, Oregon. Friends and family have come together to support Danny’s son, ensuring Greysen feels the love and respect his father earned throughout his life.
Danny served in 2007 with Bravo Company, 2-6 Infantry, a unit affectionately known as the "Death Dealers." As part of honoring Danny's memory, the goal is to gather as many of his 120 "Battle Buddies" as possible for one last gathering, so that Greysen can witness firsthand the caliber of men who stood by his father’s side.
The family has asked for donations to support Greysen’s future and to assist with unexpected expenses, including bringing Danny's comrades to the service.
Heartfelt condolences have poured in from friends and loved ones. One shared, "Danny was a hero to so many, and his spirit will always live on in the hearts of those who knew him."
The community continues to rally around Danny’s family, offering their support during this difficult time.
