Jennifer Lantz and Son Zane Lantz Tragically Found Dead in Vaughn Home, WA
On January 27, 2026, the Vaughn community was shaken by the tragic deaths of Jennifer Lantz, 48, and her son Zane Lantz, 24. The two were found in their home with apparent gunshot wounds, a discovery made by Jennifer's husband, who returned from work to find the scene and immediately contacted authorities.
Sheriff’s Deputy Carly Cappetto confirmed that Jennifer, also known as Jen, and the family dog appeared to have been shot. Zane’s death is believed to have been a suicide. A firearm was recovered from the scene, and authorities have stated that no further suspects are being sought at this time.
Jennifer was a dedicated para-educator with the Peninsula School District, where she had worked with special needs students since 2011. While Zane did not live at the home, he had spent the night before the tragic event. Friends shared that Zane had been struggling with alcohol addiction and mental health challenges over the past few years. This added to the shock of the community, who had hoped for his recovery.
In an outpouring of support on social media, one neighbor shared, “We believed Zane was on the path to recovery. This is such a heartbreaking tragedy.”
